Risk Assessment
Since 1996, CJB Environment has conducted toxicological and ecotoxicological risk assessment studies through RISCAN, its wholly-owned subsidiary. This activity progressed following the implementation in 1998 of Quebec ’s Soil Protection and Contaminated Sites Rehabilitation Policy. It has expanded in 2003 due to the implementation of the Environment Quality Act (Bill 72), which establishes a formal framework for the management of contaminated lands in the Province of Quebec .
RISCAN has carried out several risk assessment projects over the last few years, of which over twenty were completed between 2001 and 2004. These studies aimed to evaluate the toxicological and ecotoxicological risks associated with soils contaminated with PAHs, metals, petroleum products, and pesticides.
Technological and industrial risk assessment studies and emergency response plans are also part of CJB Environment’s activities.
